BAG OF FLOUR

April 23, 2024In the past, canvas was only woven from natural fibers such as hemp and jute. Today, while these materials are still common, canvas woven from synthetic fibers like polypropylene has become increasingly popular.
Plastic bags:
Plastic bags, along with cardboard boxes and postal pouches, are considered one of the most commonly used and versatile packaging items for shipping products and parcels from one point to another. In fact, plastic bags are easily loaded and transported in all types of cargo vehicles, including cars, trucks, trains, etc.
The plastic bags we are talking about are made of polypropylene. Although plastic bags are not considered standard items approved by the Iranian Post Office for shipping goods, they sometimes offer much more efficiency than cardboard boxes and postal pouches for packaging and sending large and non-sensitive packages.
Here is more about the structure and advantages of plastic bags in packaging, as well as their weaknesses.
Plastic Bag Advantages:
Plastic bags have been widely used for packaging and shipping products between two points for many years.
The main reason for this use can be attributed to their advantages, which are summarized as follows:
- Easy access
- Availability
- Low price of plastic bags compared to their good capacity and loading.
- No need for specialized facilities for final packaging of plastic bags
- Light weight
- No need for a standard space for storage
- Insensitivity to heat and moisture
- Plastic bags are elastic and resilient, whether they are filled or empty.
- Diverse sizing from small to large capacity
- Very high resistance to tearing
- Reusable plastic bags
These are all advantages of plastic bags.
Canvas bags:
The use of canvas bags has increased due to reasons such as environmental friendliness and high durability in various industries.
One type of these bags is hemp bags, which are made from natural fibers and hemp yarns. These types of bags have a long history and are used for packaging various products in various industries. For example, rice producers use these bags to package their products. Let’s continue to examine hemp bags more closely.
Hemp bags are made from natural fibers and hemp or jute yarns that are woven into sturdy threads. Hemp is a long plant with a soft and shiny stem that can be converted into a strong thread, and it is used to produce hemp yarn for making hemp bags.
Uses of Hemp Bags:
Since hemp bags are very resistant, they are used for packaging, transporting agricultural products, food products, building materials, and packaging materials such as rice, wheat, and barley.
Another application of these bags is in the manufacture of flower pots, doll making, designing clothes, curtains, tablecloths, and home decoration. However, hemp bags have many uses in various industries and can be used for various purposes. It is worth mentioning that one of the important applications of these bags is in home use, and instead of using plastic bags, hemp bags can be used, as they do not harm the environment.
Hemp bags have many uses in industry and agriculture, and they are used to make and sew bags for grains and coffee, as well as for insulation and converting work.
The majority of imports of various jute products into Iran, which are in the form of jute rolls, come from countries such as Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan due to the climatic conditions of these regions, which are warm and humid. Bengali jute (from Bangladesh) is considered one of the best types globally, and the purer and better the quality of the jute fiber, the better the quality of the woven jute.
Because of the physical properties inherent in the structure of jute, such as:
Moisture resistance and coarse texture: The coarse texture of jute allows for natural airflow and breathability, enabling materials inside it to interact easily with the external environment. This makes it one of the best options for packaging and storing food products, preventing food spoilage. For example, jute packaging is an excellent choice for storing potatoes and onions. Packaging rice using jute is also an optimal solution, as it remains intact inside the jute sack due to the airflow, preventing rice from spoiling. Jute sacks are highly resistant and durable, making them suitable for all stages from harvesting, cleaning, transportation, to storage in warehouses.
High strength and durability: One of the most significant advantages of jute sacks over plastic sacks available in the market is their high strength and durability. Therefore, they can be used for packaging sharp and heavy objects.
Environmentally friendly nature: Jute production has a lower environmental impact compared to other materials. Since no toxic substances are used in the production process, the disposal of jute sacks does not harm the environment. Jute sacks are also recyclable, further reducing their environmental footprint. Jute bags are used by beekeepers to calm their bees. Burning jute and jute fabric produces a special-smelling smoke that bees like, helping to calm them down.
Roofing and insulation industry: Jute is the primary raw material required for roofing and insulation work in the construction industry.
Regarding jute:
Jute, also known as Indian hemp, is a long, soft, and shiny plant fiber that can be spun into strong threads. It is grown and harvested annually and thrives in warm (20-40 degrees Celsius) and humid (70-80% humidity) climates with weekly rainfall of 5-8 centimeters. The largest producers of jute are India and Bangladesh.
Jute can grow up to 3 meters in height and is primarily composed of cellulose (the main component of plant fibers) and lignin (the main component of wood fibers). It consists of parts such as stems, bark, leaves, and fruit. The stem’s bark contains a layer of soft fibers from which jute threads are obtained.
Commercial jute has a yellowish-brown color and tends to be translucent like silk. Premium-quality jute has a soft and smooth texture. Its base surface is hexagonal or pentagonal under a microscope, with a size ranging from 6 to 20 microns.
Jute fibers are used in the manufacture of sacks and ropes. Jute products are 100% biodegradable and environmentally friendly. Due to its natural fibers and lustrous properties, it is also known as “golden fiber.”
Given jute’s global consumption, high production, and versatile uses, it ranks second among plant fibers after cotton.
Some of its benefits include being insulating and anti-static (due to its low thermal conductivity). It also has the ability to blend with other natural or synthetic fibers.
The most important uses of jute include in the production of curtains, chair covers, carpets, sacks (for dry goods and grains), rugs, cotton blends, and textile manufacturing. The industrial term for jute fibers is “raw jute.” The largest producers of jute are India and Bangladesh. In fact, India is the largest producer of jute yarn with over 76 factories, followed by Bangladesh with more than 70 factories ranking second in jute yarn production.
Additionally, Bangladesh is the largest cultivator of raw jute due to its geographical location and suitable climate.
